These interesting sounds are very difficult to control and can only be produced on a very soft dynamic level (pp). Just eight different kinds of pitches are possible, employing the fingering indicated in the notation examples. It is almost impossible to produce these sounds with other articulations than a plain and slow legato.

Seules huit hauteurs de sons sont possibles ; les doigtés correspondants sont indiqués dans l’exemple de notation. Ces multiphoniques ne sont réalisables que sur un legato lent.
